Summits: 1380

Montana

My first visit to Montana was to explore Glacier National Park and to climb Granite Peak, the state’s high point (12799′) in 2015. Being so far from home I didn’t know if I’d be back, but I’ve been fortunate enough to get time in Montana each summer from 2020-2023. I’ve reached 40 summits in the state now including difficult peaks like Cleveland, Kintla, and Stimson in Glacier National Park, McDonald in the wild Mission Range, and Hilgard in the Madison Range. Montana has become my favorite state to chase summits, made sweeter by having good friends in both Bozeman and Missoula. I can’t say I miss having to carry bear spray but I’m sure I’ll be back again…
