I hold a certain fascination for the Salton Sea, the history, the landscape, the towns, and people surrounding its shores. I’ve visited all sides and even kayaked across it in February of 2011. This time I rode a bicycle around it. April Goebl, Kevin McCowen, Jack Shannon, and I pedaled 115 miles around the sea, fighting gritty wind the first 30 miles early AM, appreciating much better conditions the rest of the day.
