I camped with some friends near Glacier Lodge for the long 4th of July weekend, heading out with Philip Stinis and Philip Wegge to climb University Peak on Friday, and Mt. Hurd on Sunday. We climbed University’s north face and descended via University Pass. The fine scrambling near the summit was well worth the longer than expected day out of Onion Valley. We climbed Mt. Hurd via one of the chutes on its west side, a loose but interesting climb, with great views in all directions. Between climbs we squeezed in a few beers wtih good company back at the campground.
