Along with my friend Roman, we first hiked Cuyapaipe Mountain, San Diego’s 3rd highest mountain and a delisted HPS peak, delisted because the route crosses land owned by the Cuyapaipe Band of Mission Indians (no comment). The weather was unexpectedly cold (~40F) and there were patches of snow, but we enjoyed the autumn foliage on the way to spectacular views, stretching deep into Anza Borrego and the Salton Sea. The toughest part of the hike was actually figuring out where to start, but it was a rewarding outing nonetheless.
On the way home, Roman and I took a short detour to hike Poser Mountain, weaving around brush to reach its lonely summit, just northeast of the Viejas Indian Reservation. Another good day out in San Diego…
