I’d seen Goat Peak near the intersection of the 67 and Scripps Poway Pkwy in Poway numerous times en route to other miscellaneous adventures, and finally made the trek over to check it out. The hard part was figuring out where to start, eventually finding a gated dirt road leading north from Sycamore Canyon Road near where it passes underneath Scripps Poway Pkwy. A network of trails led close enough to the peak, where a short and easy bushwhack got me to its panoramic summit. Just 4.5 miles roundtrip and 1000 feet of gain made for a nice’n’quick outing.
