Ticking off one of the harder San Diego County peaks list based hikes I had left, I hiked up one of the many ridges heading towards Hellhole Flat from the desert floor near Borrego Springs. At 5400′ of gain/loss in 9.5 miles roundtrip, it was a rather steep hike, and I started at sunrise in order to beat the heat. Making it to San Ysidro’s East summit and “The Sirens”, as well as the Ode, Kay, Webo, and Ted benchmarks, and deer, tarantula, and vulture sightings, it was a successful day! Trip report
