Sawtooth and Red Top mark my list finish for the San Diego peaks list, a project that involves hiking 100 peaks within San Diego County. Its been an amazing adventure that rivals even the best international trips I’ve taken. When people ask me how I feel after finishing the list, the only answer I can really give is “lucky.” My last SD peak list hike didn’t make me feel any different than any other hike, but I do feel lucky to have had the opportunity to get out there the way I have, and lucky to live in such an amazing place.
Regarding this particular day, Sawtooth and Red Top turned out to be two of the tougher peaks on the list. I was joined by my friend Aaron Cook on what turned out to be an 11 hour day. We were also extremely fortunate to see a pack of bighorn sheep first thing in the morning, in my opinion, the best possible thing you can see in Anza Borrego. Trip report
