Mt. Charlton is a 10800 ft peak in the San Gorgonio wildeness is San Bernadino County. We intended to climb a steep couloir on the north side of the mountain, but with the recent snowfall and cold temperatures, the snow was unconsolidated and we bailed on our intended route. We measured temperatures to be 10 degrees F at 8am and broke trail on snowshoes from our 8000 foot camp all the way to the summit.
