After spending some time in Idaho in 2016, I knew I needed to make a more dedicated trip. Endless accessible high quality peaks and hiking, few crowds, and hot springs, Idaho is an outdoorsman’s paradise. I spent some time in the Great Basin (NV) on my way up and the Sierra Nevada on my way back down. Here’s how things went:
July 1 – Drive to Currant Mountain Wilderness (NV)
July 2 – Currant Mountain
July 3 – Rest
July 4 – Camel Mountain, explore Cave Creek area
July 5 – Rest, hang out in Ely
July 6 – North Schell Mountain, drive to Angel Lake
July 7 – Meet with friend Gerard in Twin Falls (ID)
July 8-9 – Explore Sleeping Deer Road, Fly Creek Point
July 10-12 – White Clouds Wilderness, hike White Clouds Peak #9
July 13 – Pick up Philip Wegge in Boise
July 14-16 – Seven Devils Wilderness, hike Tower of Babel, The Ogre, He Devil
July 17 – Rest in McCall, drive to Big Creek (near Frank Church Wilderness)
July 18 – Hike Wolf Fang, P9101, Mt. Eldridge
July 19 – Hike Ramey Point (Frank Church Wilderness)
July 20 – Hike Wilson and Crater Peaks, drive to Stanley, hot spring
July 21 – Rest in Challis, drive to Bighorn Crags Trailhead
July 22-24 – Bighorn Crags, Mt. McGuire (Frank Church Wilderness), Sunbeam Hot Springs
July 25 – Alpine Peak (Sawtooths), Stanley Hot Spring
July 26 – Cape Horn Mountain, drive to Boise
July 27 – Philip Wegge departs, drive to Bishop (CA)
July 28 – Join with Christian Mulkey, Chocolate Lakes loop
July 29-30 – Hike to Moonlight Lake via Lake Sabrina, Christian departs, join with Christina Lam
July 31 – Hike to Eastern Brook Lakes, Crab Cooker Hot Spring
Aug 1-2 – Pyramid Peak via Little Lakes Valley, Wild Willy’s Hot Springs
Aug 3 – Rest in Bishop
Aug 4 – Flat Top Mtn, Cottonwood Lakes
Aug 5 – Smatko Peak (Sierra), Saddleback Butte (Antelope Valley), home
