2013: Jan 12-13 » Ranchita Mine, Blair Valley, Shake, Quake

It’d been a long 11 days since I’d been to Anza Borrego, so another trip was in order 🙂 . This time I traveled out with Eris, and we had several things on the menu. We stopped off first in Banner for a quick hike to see an old 5-stamp mill near the center of an old gold mining district, not a soul around. Afterwards, we rode 2-up on my Suzuki DR650 down towards Ocotillo, admiring the scenery along the beautiful S2. We had a very cold night camped in Blair Valley (patchy snow on the ground from the previous week! – coldest weekend in SD since 2007), and hiked the Quake and Shake benchmarks on Sunday morning.
