This Sunday I left home at 7:30am to head up to Rainbow, a small community just south of Temecula. I was able to take scenic old 395 for much of the ride up, a highway that I’m familiar with much further north in California on the east side of the Sierra (the 15 was built over much of the southern section some time ago). I had breakfast at the bar at the Rainbow Oaks Restaurant, a very popular place (both morning and evening I’ve been told), after which I explored the town before taking Rice Canyon, Couser Canyon, and various other scenic and near traffic-free back-country roads to get home.
