The Devil’s Backbone is a great winter route on Mt. Baldy in the San Gabriel mountains of California. I usually do some variation of this climb once a year good and was fortunate enough to have some friends join me this time around. We climbed up Register Ridge to the summit of Mt. Harwood and descended the Devil’s Backbone, skipping Baldy’s crowded summit this time around.
